Lawrence High School Senior Art Exhibit

The Lawrence High School Senior Art Exhibition opens April 15 in Suite 200 of the Standard Mutual Life building at 8th & Vermont with an opening reception from 6:30-9:00pm. The exhibit will also be open 11am to 6pm April 16, and 1pm to 5pm April 17.

Also, the High School Arts Exhibition at the Lawrence Arts Center will be open April 19 to 24.

Talk: Hallmark Design Symposium featuring Randy Olson

Randy Olson, a National Geographic photographer for 18 years, will be the speaker at the Hallmark Design Symposium on April 11.
The event is free and open to the public. It will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in room 3139 Wescoe on the KU campus in Lawrence.

Exhibit: Picture the World

Congratulations to Sue Suhler who took 2nd place among KU Alumni in the Picture the World contest at KU. The photos are on exhibition in the SUA gallery, on the 4th floor of the Kansas Union at KU, 8am-5pm M-F through May 14.

Exhibit: The Art of Bill Bowerman

LPA member Bill Bowerman has an exhibition The Art of Bill Bowerman: Scanography and Drawing at Signs of Life Gallery. The exhibition opens with a reception on Friday April 16, 2010 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm, and runs to June 5. The gallery is at 722 Massachusetts in downtown Lawrence. Pulitzer winner at KC Libs

Two events take place in conjunction with The Fine Art of Jazz exhibit of photography of Jazz musicians by Pulitzer Prize-winning Photographer Dan White at the Kansas City, Mo public library’s Central Library. The exhibit runs April 10-May 23.

The first event, “A Conversation with Dan White on the Fine Art of Jazz” takes place from noon to 1pm on Wednesday, April 14 in room 303 of the Miller Nichols Library at UMKC.

Join Chuck Haddix, jazz historian and head of the Marr Sound Archives, as he welcomes internationally acclaimed photographer Dan White.

Dan will discuss the art of photography and share insights gleaned from working with many of Kansas City’s greatest jazz legends.
A reception will follow.
